Although it might not get as cold in the South as it does in other parts of the country, heating your home during the cooler months is a must and there isn’t much you can do to avoid the expense of your heating bill every winter. However, there are ways that you can lower your bill to make this season a little bit more bearable for you and your wallet!

Seal the Gaps
Don’t throw money out the window (literally!) Be sure to go around and make sure all of your windows, power sockets, and other gaps are properly sealed. You can use caulk or foam to seal these holes and help keep your home nice and ventilated this winter.

Set (and Don’t Touch) Your Thermostat
Although it can be tempting to change the thermostat every time you get a little bit colder, it’s good practice to not adjust them. Thermostats are made to self-regulate and keep your spaces at a constant temperature. Decide what temperature you’d like the room to be at, set it, and leave it alone!

Need to look into getting a new thermostat? Xcalibur Services offers the latest and greatest in air control technology, from traditional wall-mounted models, to touchscreen faces for ultimate temperature control, to remote access thermostats that can be adjusted from any phone, tablet, or computer. Insulate
Depending on when your home was built and well constructed it was, it will generally already have some type of insulation. But if you notice your home is lacking in insulation, there are some ways to help combat this. You can insulate your attic with a roll of insulation from the local hardware store and you can add some thicker curtains to the windows to keep the cold away.

Get your HVAC A Check-Up
It’s important to get your unit inspected at least once a year (we even recommend twice!) And if you’ve been neglecting to get it scheduled, it’s the perfect time to get that inspection. This will help see if there are any issues with your unit that need to be fixed, that if left untreated, can make your power bill soar!

Whether you use a furnace, a heat pump, a boiler, or any other method of residential or commercial heating system, you can rely on Xcalibur Services to keep it in prime condition! Need to schedule an inspection? Give us a call! (205) 718-8700.
